The Cell Development Engineer will support the development of next-generation battery technologies, helping to translate new materials, cell designs and manufacturing concepts into scalable, production-ready solutions.

Working across engineering, quality, manufacturing and supply chain teams, you will contribute to cell development activities from early-stage trials through to validation and industrialisation.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting battery cell development activities, including material evaluation, test planning and performance validation.
  • Planning and executing development trials and Design of Experiments (Do E)
  • Analysing electrochemical data to identify trends, performance improvements and degradation mechanisms.
  • Supporting the development of new cell formats, designs and manufacturing approaches.
  • Contributing to technical feasibility studies, risk assessments and product development activities.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams to support material selection and process development.

Requirements

  • A Degree or Master\'s Degree in Electrochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in lithium-ion battery development, testing, materials evaluation or manufacturing process development.
  • Knowledge of battery cell components, materials and electrochemical behaviour.
  • Experience planning and analysing development trials or experimental programmes.
  • Familiarity with electrochemical testing techniques such as cycling, EIS, CV, GITT/PITT or similar methods.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
