Working at the intersection of electrochemistry, operando characterisation and product development, the Application Scientist will play a key role in expanding the capabilities of a cutting-edge battery analysis platform. This role combines hands-on laboratory work with product development, supporting the creation of new experimental workflows, specialised test hardware and advanced data analysis approaches that help customers gain deeper insights into battery behaviour and performance.

The Application Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Designing and optimising experimental workflows across a range of battery chemistries
  • Developing and refining bespoke operando battery cell designs to improve performance, usability and manufacturability
  • Using CAD software to design components and support rapid prototyping activities
  • Preparing battery electrodes and assembling laboratory-scale test cells
  • Analysing electrochemical, imaging and multidimensional datasets to support product and application development
  • Presenting technical findings and recommendations to customers, collaborators and internal teams
  • Supporting scientific collaborations, customer demonstrations, training activities and industry events

The Application Scientist will have:

  • An MSc or PhD in Electrochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Hands-on experience working with lithium-ion or other advanced battery technologies
  • Experience in battery cell assembly and electrochemical testing
  • A strong understanding of battery chemistries and electrochemical processes
  • Strong CAD capability and experience designing technical components
  • Excellent data analysis and experimental problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers and multidisciplinary teams
