Eventus Legal Recruitment is seeking a Residential Conveyancer who is interested and capable of progression to Head of Department with a successful, friendly law firm based in Staplehurst, Kent. Applications are sought from Qualified Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executives, Licensed Conveyancers, and highly experienced non‑qualified Residential Conveyancers.
This is a full‑time, permanent job offering hybrid working, a salary of £45,000 to £60,000 depending on experience, pension contributions, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, a bonus scheme, and genuine progression to lead and develop the residential conveyancing department.
The successful Conveyancer will be joining an established law firm with a strong local reputation across Kent and Sussex. This role would suit an experienced residential property fee earner who is confident running their own caseload, enjoys client contact, and is interested in developing a department over time.
Role Responsibilities- Managing a caseload of residential conveyancing files including purchases, sales, freehold, and leasehold matters
- Handling some commercial property matters where experience allows, although commercial property experience is not essential
- Running files from instruction through to completion with paralegal support
- Managing matters efficiently using a good case management system
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders, solicitors, and the Land Registry to progress transactions
- Conducting title checks on freehold and leasehold properties
- Raising and responding to enquiries
- Drafting contracts, preparing exchanges, and managing completions
- Maintaining regular, clear, and professional communication with clients throughout each transaction
- Ensuring compliance with internal procedures, quality standards, and risk management requirements
- Working collaboratively with paralegal support and wider colleagues across the firm
- Building on an existing foundation of cases and helping to grow the department across two sites
- Supporting future business development activity, including networking and building relationships with estate agents
- Contributing to future hiring plans as the role develops towards Head of Department
- Qualified Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive, Licensed Conveyancer, or experienced non‑qualified Residential Conveyancer will be considered
- Minimum three years fee‑earning experience in residential conveyancing
- Experience handling purchase, sale, freehold, and leasehold transactions
- Commercial property experience would be desirable, but is not essential
- Strong technical ability including title checking, raising and responding to enquiries, and contract drafting
- Excellent communication skills with a professional and approachable manner
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively
- A client‑focused approach and commitment to delivering a high standard of service
- Confidence working with paralegal support
- An interest in business development, networking, and building professional relationships
