Eventus Legal are seeking a Legal Secretary with experience to join a thriving Family Law team based in Skipton, North Yorkshire. This is a permanent job ideally offered on a part-time basis across four days per week, though applications are warmly encouraged from those wishing to work three or five days. Role Responsibilities

  • Audio typing of legal correspondence and court documents via BigHand Digital Dictation
  • Preparing and formatting legal bundles and forms for family law hearings
  • Managing diaries, scheduling appointments, and coordinating client meetings
  • Opening, closing, and maintaining files using Practice Evolve Case Management System
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients and external parties, both in person and over the phone
  • Collaborating closely with Solicitors, Paralegals, and fellow Secretaries to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Undertaking general administration including filing, scanning, and photocopying

Person Specification

Applications are sought from experienced Legal Secretaries who are looking to build a long-term career in a secretarial position. Due to the current make-up of the team, this job is ideally suited to a career Legal Secretary rather than a law graduate seeking progression into a fee-earning role. Strong applicants from other professional secretarial backgrounds will also be considered. The successful Legal Secretary will have:

  • Proven audio typing skills using BigHand Digital Dictation
  • Prior experience working with a legal case management system – ideally Practice Evolve
  • A highly organised and detail-focused approach to work
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A friendly and empathetic manner, especially when dealing with sensitive family law matters
  • A proactive, supportive, and positive approach to teamwork
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and general office software
