- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial leases and related documentation for landlords and tenants
- Handling landlord and tenant matters, including lease renewals, assignments, variations and licences where appropriate to the transaction
- Advising on commercial remortgages, refinancing and bridging finance transactions
- Investigating title, reviewing searches and reporting clearly on legal issues, risks and proposed solutions
- Liaising with clients, lenders, agents, other solicitors and professional advisers to progress transactions efficiently
- Overseeing exchange and completion, working with the dedicated post-completion team to ensure a smooth handover
- Building effective client and referrer relationships through responsive communication and commercially practical advice
- Contributing to the continued growth of the Commercial Property department and supporting colleagues when required
Person Specification
Our client is looking for a confident commercial property practitioner who combines technical ability with an approachable, client-focused style. You should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Strong experience managing non-contentious commercial property matters from instruction through to completion
- Practical knowledge of freehold and leasehold commercial transactions and commercial landlord and tenant work
- Confidence drafting and negotiating leases, handling title issues and advising clients on transaction risks
- Ability to manage an active caseload independently, organise competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Commercial awareness, sound judgement and an efficient, solution-focused approach to legal work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to high standards of client care
- A friendly, collaborative approach with a willingness to contribute positively to a close-knit team
- Experience using Smokeball case management software or the Minerva portal would be advantageous but is not essential
- Previous billing performance that demonstrates the ability to operate effectively as an experienced fee earner

- Up to £50,000 (DOE)
- Hybrid working with one flexible day working from home each week, coordinated with the team rota
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
- Office closure across the Christmas and New Year period, with the precise holiday arrangement to be confirmed
- Annual performance-related bonus scheme linked to individual billing targets
- Free parking
- Company pension
- Dedicated experienced legal assistant to support the fee earner with administration
- Separate specialist post-completion support team
- Company-funded summer and Christmas social events and other team activities
- Opportunities for internal progression, with study support potentially considered
- Monday to Friday working hours of 9.00am to 5.00pm, including a one-hour lunch break
