Eventus Recruitment is seeking a Legal Secretary with Family experience for a thriving law firm based in Newcastle. This is a permanent position with full-time hours but with flexible start and finish times. Other benefits include 25 days holiday, rising with service, annual salary reviews and a travel subsidy scheme.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Family team with the administrative elements of their caseload comprising both publicly and privately funded family law, including care proceedings.
  • Hands on assistance with the caseload, liaising with the courts, involvement in preparing documents and potentially drafting documents, with support.
  • Diary management.
  • Preparing legal documents, correspondence and court forms by audio and copy typing (digital dictation).
  • Greeting visitors to the office.
  • Answering the telephone and dealing with enquiries from clients and other legal professionals.
  • Photocopying, filing, scanning and other administrative duties.

Person Specification

  • Applications are sought from experienced Legal Secretaries with experience in Family law, particularly publicly funded matters and liaising with the Legal Aid Agency.
  • Have excellent IT skills including Outlook, Word, use of CMS, and Excel if possible.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a professional telephone manner.
  • Be proactive and able to use own initiative.
  • Be very organised.
  • Be able to work well under pressure.
  • Have a willingness to adapt.
  • Be someone who works well within a team environment.
  • Be someone keen to learn new skills and be open to development and training.

Benefits include 25 days holiday, rising with service, annual salary reviews, contractual sick pay and a travel subsidy scheme. Contractual hours are 35 per week, but there is flexibility over start and finish times.
