Eventus Legal are seeking a Conveyancing Assistant to join a growing regional law firm as it opens a new office in Darlington, County Durham. This is a full-time, permanent job position, working Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 5.00pm, with a salary of £25,000 to £30,000 depending on experience. For experienced applicants, hybrid working may be considered on an individual basis following an initial office-based training period of at least one month. Role Responsibilities
This Conveyancing Assistant job will provide hands-on support across a broad range of residential conveyancing transactions, with regular contact with clients and other parties involved in the transaction. Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing clients with conveyancing quotations and preparing client care documentation
- Preparing and issuing draft contract packs for freehold and leasehold transactions
- Using the HM Land Registry portal to obtain documentation and submit applications
- Updating lender systems, including Lender Exchange and LMS
- Preparing and submitting Stamp Duty Land Tax forms
- Dealing with Help to Buy ISA information where required
- Providing updates to clients, estate agents, mortgage advisers and other parties
- Supporting post-exchange and post-completion work
- Preparing files for completion and assisting with registrations following completion
- Maintaining accurate files and supporting the Conveyancing Solicitor with the smooth progression of matters
Person Specification
This opportunity would suit an organised and client-focused Conveyancing Assistant who enjoys being closely involved in residential property transactions and working as part of a collaborative team. You should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Previous experience within a law firm or residential conveyancing environment is desirable
- Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident telephone manner and a professional approach to client care
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
- Good time-management skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; training will be provided on the firm's LEAP case management system
- Audio typing experience is desirable but not essential
- Flexibility to be office-based full-time for at least the first month for training and integration, with occasional travel to the firm's established North Yorkshire offices for meetings or training where required
