Eventus Legal are seeking a Court of Protection Senior Solicitor to join a highly regarded law firm on a permanent, full-time basis based in Birmingham, West Midlands. About the Role
As a Court of Protection Senior Solicitor, you will manage a varied and complex caseload involving property and financial affairs matters, alongside health and welfare cases where appropriate. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with vulnerable clients, family members and professional contacts while delivering clear, compassionate and commercially focused advice. The Court of Protection Senior Solicitor will also play an important part in mentoring junior team members and supporting the continued development of the wider department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a complex caseload of Court of Protection matters involving property and financial affairs cases
- Advising deputies, attorneys, trustees and family members on mental capacity and best interests matters
- Handling deputyship applications, contested proceedings and statutory will applications
- Overseeing the ongoing administration and financial management of deputyship files
- Building strong relationships with clients, medical professionals, case managers and external stakeholders
- Providing clear and practical advice in relation to safeguarding and Mental Capacity Act matters
- Supervising, mentoring and supporting junior lawyers and trainees within the team
- Supporting networking initiatives and contributing to business development activities
- Assisting with the strategic growth and continued success of the Court of Protection department
- Ensuring excellent standards of client care, compliance and risk management across all matters
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring matters progress efficiently and professionally
About You
You will be an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor with strong technical knowledge and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable clients. The successful candidate will enjoy building strong professional relationships and working collaboratively within a supportive team environment. This opportunity would suit someone commercially aware, approachable and motivated to contribute to the long-term success of a growing specialist department.
You should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Qualified Solicitor with significant experience handling Court of Protection matters
- Strong technical knowledge relating to mental capacity, deputyship and safeguarding issues
- Ability to manage a complex caseload effectively while meeting deadlines and client expectations
- Proactive and commercially aware approach to supporting clients and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Confident IT skills including experience using Microsoft 365 applications
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards of accuracy across all work
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients and professional contacts
- Professional and resilient approach when handling sensitive and challenging matters
- Positive attitude with a collaborative and supportive approach to team working
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members would be advantageous
