Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced event manager to drive strategy and end-to-end execution of AWS flagship events in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). This includes our large-scale AWS Summit program where customers can learn more about AWS through keynotes, hands-on technical sessions, and interactive learning opportunities that cover a range of topics from cloud migration to AI. This role requires strong expertise in large-scale external events and the ability to apply that expertise to specific event disciplines (e.g., operations, platforms, or specialized audience programs) combined with proven ability to design and deliver complex event programs. You will operate with considerable autonomy both in event program planning and onsite execution.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Strategic Event Program Management
    • Develop comprehensive event program strategies aligned with business objectives and working backwards from the customer
    • Own end-to-end planning and delivery of major event programs
    • Manage large budgets
    • Create and maintain detailed project timelines with clear milestones and deliverables
    • Drive innovation in event program execution, delivery methods and event experience
    • Use AI to drive efficiency and innovation, both in internal planning and customer-facing delivery
    • Lead onsite execution of live events
  • Event Program Execution & Leadership
    • Manage complex, high-visibility event programs with significant scope and investment
    • Drive strategic decisions about event program elements and execution approach
    • Develop and implement best practices for event program delivery
    • Lead cross-functional teams during both planning and onsite execution
    • Serve as escalation point for critical issues during live events
  • Operational Excellence
    • Design scalable frameworks for event program execution
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives
    • Develop KPI dashboards and measurement frameworks
    • Create detailed documentation of processes and best practices
    • Implement innovative solutions for event program delivery
    • Manage onsite teams and vendors during event execution
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders
    • Provide strategic counsel to business partners on event program strategy
    • Lead stakeholder communications and alignment discussions
    • Partner with regional teams while maintaining global standards
    • Manage critical stakeholder relationships during live events

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of experience in event marketing or related field
  • Proven track record of managing large and complex in-person events
  • Experience leading teams in high-pressure, live event environments
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellence in stakeholder management and influence
  • Demonstrated ability to drive program improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with technology industry events (5,000+ in-person attendees)
  • Track record of implementing innovative solutions
  • International event program management experience
  • Deep expertise in specific event disciplines
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams
