We’re Hiring: Workshop Carpenter

Make the extraordinary, everlasting — with us.

At Event Concept, we craft extraordinary experiences that leave a lasting impression — not just for our clients, but for our people too. We blend the big ideas of a creative agency with the meticulous execution of a production company, bringing bold, imaginative events to life.
We’re collaborative, down-to-earth, and serious about delivering quality — all while finding time for lightness and fun. If you’re someone who’s curious, adaptable and excited to do meaningful work with a team that’s got your back, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Workshop Carpenter to join our Scenic department. Reporting into the Workshop Manager, you’ll be part of our fast-paced construction team bringing creative designs to life through high-quality scenic builds. From custom stages, pop-ups, and props to exhibition stands and bespoke furniture, your work will help turn ambitious ideas into physical realities — built on time and to the highest standard.

You’ll Thrive Here If You…

  • Have previous experience in scenic or event carpentry.
  • Always aim for perfection, even in temporary builds — quality is never compromised.
  • Can remain calm and focused under pressure — especially when timelines are tight.
  • Are confident reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Take pride in your carpentry and finishing skills.
  • Are willing to work as part of a team delivering the event, whatever the discipline may be.
  • Are familiar with a range of scenic/exhibition construction methods and enjoy problem-solving.
  • Are proactive and self-motivated, thriving in a fast-moving environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally — both on the workshop floor and via email.
  • Are curious about technology and how it integrates into scenic work.
  • Have basic IT literacy — experience with AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or SketchUp is a bonus, not a must.
  • Care about sustainability and are aligned with our 2030 Pledge to reduce waste and single-use plastics.

You don’t have to tick every box — we care just as much about curiosity, adaptability and a growth mindset as we do experience on paper.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Constructing a wide range of scenic elements — from stages and stands to props and furniture.
  • Liaising with our technical designer/drafts team to turn designs into builds.
  • Collaborating with other carpenters and freelancers to complete daily tasks.
  • Assisting onsite construction teams for larger projects when required.
  • Working closely with Scenic PMs, Workshop Manager and Project Managers to plan upcoming work.
  • Collaborating with the workshop team on best practices, construction techniques, and finishes.
  • Quality-checking projects before dispatch to ensure highest levels of finish.
  • Supporting the Workshop Manager with Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and workflow planning.
  • Contributing to our sustainability goals, especially around waste and material use.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Actively identifying areas for improvement in team skills, training, or business process.
  • Providing feedback to the Workshop Manager and being part of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Following our Health & Safety Policy and all other company protocols.
  • Staying up to date with new materials, methods, and technologies in scenic construction.
  • Representing EC’s values in everything you do.
