Make the extraordinary, everlasting - with us. At EC, we craft extraordinary experiences that leave a lasting impression - not just for our clients, but for our people too. We blend the big ideas of a creative agency with the meticulous execution of a production company, bringing bold, imaginative events to life. We’re collaborative, down-to-earth, and serious about delivering quality - all while finding time for lightness and fun. If you’re someone who’s curious, adaptable and excited to do meaningful work with a team that’s got your back, we’d love to hear from you.
About The Role
We’re looking for an Account Director to join our team. Reporting into the Chief Growth Officer, you’ll play a key role shaping and driving the growth of our agency business plan and strategy, driving client growth and retention, and leading new business development. This is not a delivery role but one rooted in building strong client relationships, driving retention, and creating robust account development plans.
Qualifications
- You’ve delivered a wide range of live events and brand experiences and are now excited to focus more on building client relationships, identifying opportunities, and helping shape winning pitches.
- You’re naturally curious and commercially minded — you love getting under the skin of a client’s brief, asking the right questions, and helping shape smart, strategic responses.
- You enjoy pitching and thrive on the buzz of new business.
- You know what makes a proposal stand out, and you can confidently present your ideas to clients and stakeholders.
- You bring a strategic mindset and can lead and guide internal teams with confidence to ensure proposals are creative, relevant, and impactful.
- You’ve had proven success growing key accounts and can spot and unlock potential in both new and existing clients.
- You’re a relationship builder who builds trust quickly and is energised by client conversations and long‑term partnerships.
- You’re comfortable leading Creative, Content, Project and Production teams to bring ideas to life — and you always keep the client’s objectives front and centre.
- You’re solutions‑focused and resilient, calmly navigating challenges while maintaining a positive, professional approach.
- You have a genuine passion for the world of live events — ideally with the majority of your experience across B2B (e.g. conferences, internal comms) and some B2C (e.g. brand activations and experiences).
Responsibilities
- Client management & New Business Development
- Contributing to strategic thinking around agency development and growth, including input into the business plan for offering development and long‑term growth.
- Executing agency strategy by taking agreed plans and running with them autonomously.
- Driving proactive new business, developing strategically led approaches aligned to the agency’s target sectors and business plan.
- Creating compelling credentials, pitch and proposal decks and actively meeting prospective clients to sell the agency’s offering.
- Taking client briefs and interrogating them thoroughly, asking the right questions and getting under the skin of the challenge.
- Working closely with the Creative Director and Strategist to develop robust, insight‑led strategies that solve real client problems.
- Confidently challenging clients and encouraging different ways of thinking.
- Leading pitch responses and acting as the central ‘pitch doctor’, pulling together strategy, creative, production approach, locations, budgets and commercial considerations.
- Owning the creation of high‑quality, bespoke pitch and proposal decks with clear structure, strong narrative and flawless attention to detail.
- Delivering results for both the agency and clients, including securing new clients and delivering against agreed KPIs.
- Ensuring all work supports the agency’s 2030 sustainability pledge and remains true to the four sustainability pillars, both internally and for clients.
- Working with the Client Director and Strategist to drive innovative thinking and identify ways for the agency to stand out in a competitive market.
- Demonstrating outstanding written communication skills across decks, proposals and client communications, with the ability to sell the vision and deliver on it.
- Presenting confidently and persuasively to clients, leading pitches and key meetings.
- Remaining commercially minded at all times, identifying opportunities to drive revenue, unlock growth from existing clients and maximise profitability.
- Managing budgets, reporting on profit margins, negotiating contracts and closing agreements.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships based on trust, excellence and long‑term partnership.
- Developing robust account development and keep‑in‑touch plans to secure repeat business and uncover new opportunities.
- Supporting recruitment and team growth as the agency scales.
- Staying on top of industry trends and target sectors, with a constant eye on spotting and unlocking new opportunities.
- Attending industry events to raise both personal and agency profile, network and build relationships.
Team Management
- Leading internal teams as above.
- Hiring a team and managing them, providing direction and professional development.
Project Delivery
- Light touch senior oversight of campaigns and events to ensure they are on strategy. This is not a delivery role.
Process & Governance
- Ensure all internal processes, such as timesheets and expenses, are followed and actioned in a timely fashion.
Success Markers
- Successful execution of the agency business plan.
- Winning new clients, who become repeat clients.
- Delivery of events with the Projects Team on strategy, brand and budget.
