We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Conference Project Manager Intern to join our award-winning, pan-African media and communications group. In this role, you will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of a wide range of high-profile events, including conferences, awards, webinars and other formats. You will work with cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and ensure all event logistics are meticulously executed within deadlines and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The group organises high-level events for governments and international institutions.
  • The role is suitable for a highly organised professional with passion in the production of small to large-scale, international conferences and events, with an interest in and strong knowledge of Africa and the African markets.
  • The candidate must possess an understanding and knowledge of the events project management cycle and high research skills across different industries in Africa.

Client Management

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proactively identify and address client needs and concerns.
  • Deliver exceptional client service throughout the event lifecycle.

Content & Programme Research

  • Research and collaborate with experts to develop compelling event agendas and content proposals.
  • Conduct desk research on a variety of economic, business, and financial issues related to Africa.
  • Produce written materials and communication documents, such as concept notes, speaker briefs, invitations, etc.
  • Research and source potential speakers for conferences and events.
  • Help manage the selection, invitation, briefing, and coordination of speakers.
  • Collaborate on the production of high-quality event materials, including presentations, briefing documents, etc.
  • Design and develop conference programs and agendas.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Team concerning speakers' logistics.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, and Sales teams to identify target audiences and conference selling points, and produce conference collaterals and marketing materials.
  • Help with the coordination of speakers during events, including providing briefings regarding session topics and formats.
  • Perform other related duties and administrative tasks as required.

Follow Up

  • Conduct post-event evaluations and debriefings with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Gather and analyse event feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and deliver post-event reports to clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google.
  • Some physical demands are necessary, such as walking, sitting or standing and lifting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and the capacity to identify new business opportunities.
  • Be able to work independently and also as part of a team and meet tight deadlines.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Passion for Africa and a genuine interest in contributing to its development through the power of media and communications.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Event Management or equivalent.
  • Passion for Africa.
  • Fluency in French is preferred.
  • Understanding of the African media, political and economic landscape, including international events, and strategic communication services.
