What will you be doing?

We’re seeking a highly experienced and commercially successful Director, Business Development to join our team in Bristol, responsible for leading adviser relationship development across the South West.

You will be responsible for building, deepening and converting relationships with Independent Financial Advisers, wealth planners and adviser firms throughout the region.

This is a senior role requiring a proven business developer with strong existing relationships in the South West IFA market and a demonstrable track record of generating significant new assets under management.

It will require the ability and credibility to deliver in excess of £100m of new AUM per annum, through a combination of new business development, strategic account management and long-term relationship building.

In addition to driving commercial growth, the role will involve working closely with our offices across the South West, ensuring strong regional connectivity and a consistent client and adviser experience.

You will also be expected to act as a senior member of the wider business development team, mentoring junior colleagues and contributing ideas, market insight and experience to support the continued growth of the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Leading business development activity across Bristol and the wider South West region – identifying, developing and converting high‑quality relationships with IFAs, adviser firms, wealth planners and professional connections.
  • Generating significant new AUM flows, capable of delivering in excess of £100m per annum.
  • Building and managing senior relationships with key decision‑makers, business owners, investment committees and adviser networks.
  • Promoting the firm’s investment solutions, including Managed Portfolio Services, discretionary services and other relevant propositions.
  • Developing a clear regional business plan focused on target firms, growth opportunities and key strategic relationships.
  • Managing a robust pipeline of adviser opportunities and ensuring disciplined follow‑up through to conversion.

Qualifications – Core Requirements

  • Significant experience in a senior business development, sales director or intermediary relationship role within financial services with strong existing relationships with IFAs and adviser firms across Bristol and the wider South West.
  • Demonstrable track record of generating substantial new AUM, ideally in excess of £100m per annum.
  • Experience promoting investment solutions such as Managed Portfolio Services, discretionary fund management services, model portfolios or wider wealth management propositions.
  • Excellent knowledge of the adviser market, including adviser business models, platform dynamics, investment outsourcing and client proposition requirements.
  • Ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders, including firm principals, investment committees and professional introducers with strong presentation, communication and relationship‑management skills.
  • Commercially focused, with a clear understanding of pipeline management, opportunity qualification and conversion.
  • Desired
  • Existing network of high‑quality adviser relationships in the South West.
  • Experience working for an investment manager, discretionary fund manager, wealth manager, asset manager, platform or MPS provider.
  • Relevant financial services qualifications such as the Investment Management Certificate, Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent.
  • Experience contributing to broader distribution strategy, proposition development or regional growth planning.
  • Previous responsibility for coaching or mentoring junior business development professionals.
  • Experience hosting adviser events, investment seminars, roundtables or regional professional forums.
