We are seeking enthusiastic, hard working dental nurses to join the Community Dental Nursing Team. We currently have a vacancy for a Band 4 Dental Nurse: 37.5 hours / 1.0 WTE / Working days to be Monday to Friday. Based at the Birmingham Dental Hospital on the Restorative 3 Department. Working flexibly within the dental team to provide high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the Dental Service, based at Birmingham Dental Hospital (BDH).
Dental Nurses will be expected to work flexibly within the Birmingham Dental Hospital departments and occasionally supporting community dental service.
To provide chair side assistance to clinicians within the dental service.
To carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinic/department.
Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service.
Responsibilities
- To prepare and monitor patients for and during their dental treatment, providing pre and post operative instructions as required.
- To undertake the general care of the surgery including dental equipment/instruments (medical devices) and arrange any necessary repairs as required.
- To ensure medical emergency drugs and equipment are available and up to date.
- To provide chair side assistance and postoperative instructions during general anaesthetic and exodontia sessions as required.
- To provide oral health education to patients as required by the clinician
- To assist the Senior Dental Nurse and Specialty Nurses in the smooth running of the Dental service.
- To support and assist clinicians including all student disciplines.
- To support and supervise all apprentice nurses, undergraduate groups.
