Evapco is seeking applicants for a full-time Certified Pressure Boundary Welder position on the Second Shift at our Madera, CA, location. The Certified Pressure Boundary Welder will work under general supervision and perform tube, header, and pipe connection welds/assembly. Follow and correctly execute both verbal and written work instructions and basic engineering drawings.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare all weld joints in accordance with B31.5 standards/directives
- Weld all joints in accordance with B31.5 standards/directives
- Clean and test all welded joints in accordance with B31.5 standards/directives
- Perform high-pressure testing on welded evaporator and eco-Air units and make weld repairs to joints as required, per B31.5 standards/directives
- Read and comprehend various engineering and production documents, drawings, and instructions
- Perform set-up and dimensional and visual inspection of parts, assemblies, and final product as directed
- Maintain accurate records/reports as directed
- Required to safely operate overhead cranes and jib boom hoists
- Perform housekeeping and basic PM duties as assigned
- Meet or exceed annual safety, quality (leak rate), and productivity (weld quantity/efficiency) success targets
- Participate in team and shop business problem-solving activities that include quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements
- Attend training courses as directed by management. This could include traveling to other facilities for training
- Follow all related written and oral work instructions
- May perform other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Qualified as an Evapco Certified Pressure Boundary Welder per B31.5 standards
- A High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, is required
- Use, read, and comprehend a tape measure to within 1/32”, is required
- Use, read, and comprehend micrometers, dial calipers, and weld gauges
- Demonstrate the math ability to convert decimals to fractions & fractions to decimals
- Basic nomenclature and practical use of hand tools is required
- Reading and understanding engineering drawings and BOM’s, are required
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), is preferred
