The Assembly Technician works under close supervision to perform basic assembly of unit sections and sub-assemblies, as assigned within Evapco. The assembly technician may perform work independently or with assistance from other team members.
Position Reports to: Assembly Supervisor
Shifts Available: Day Shift, 5 days a week for 8 hours or 4 days a week for 10 hours
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Basic assembly of various parts/components into completed unit sections and sub-assemblies
- Can follow directions and show comprehension of instructions given.
- Can identify the paperwork provided to build unit sections or sub-assemblies to adhere to Evapco Quality standards.
- Takes constructive criticism and fixes identified mistakes in a timely manner with a positive, continuous improvement attitude
- Takes initiative over expanding their knowledge and enhancing their own learning ability.
- Participate in team and shop business problem solving activities that include quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements
- Meet or exceed annual safety, quality, 5-S, and productivity targets
- Attend training courses as directed by management
- Works to achieve and maintain a minimum 90% efficiency
- May perform other duties, as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience
- Understanding and proper use of tape measure within 1/16”
- Must be able to use overhead crane (after receiving appropriate training)
- Must have a reliable means of transportation.
- Basic shop math (i.e. add/subtract/divide/multiply, whole numbers and fractions)
- Must be able to read Production Orders & understand shop drawings
- Familiar with common hand and power tools
- High School diploma or GED equivalent, preferred
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing and outdoor environments
- Continuous standing, sitting, squatting, bending, pulling, and lifting throughout the workday
- Lifting of 50 lbs. or less
- Wear PPE when required
- Shift work, Monday through Friday, and some weekends
