We’re supporting a product-led technology business that is bringing in an interim Head of Information Security to lead a short, delivery-focused engagement. This role is deliberately hands-on. The client is not looking for a policy owner or audit lead — they need someone who can build, integrate, and improve security alongside engineering teams, and leave the function in a materially stronger place at the end of the engagement.
What you’ll be working on:
- Taking ownership of practical security delivery across cloud platforms, applications, APIs, and data
- Working directly with engineering and platform teams to embed security into build and deployment workflows
- Improving how security shows up in CI/CD, SDLC, and platform engineering, with a strong bias toward automation
- Leading incident response and threat modelling from an engineering and adversarial perspective
- Running a small, focused security function, setting technical direction and standards without unnecessary process
What we’re looking for:
- A strong background in security engineering, with hands-on experience across cloud, application, and infrastructure security
- Someone who still builds, configures, and automates, rather than operating purely at oversight level
- Experience operating in lean teams with high ownership and autonomy
- Comfortable applying automation and emerging techniques (including AI where appropriate) to real security problems
- Able to step into an environment quickly, deliver change, and hand over cleanly
What this role is not:
- Not a governance-only or compliance-led position
- Not a role for someone removed from day-to-day technical work
