Evans Construction & Civil Engineering Ltd is a growing civil engineering contractor delivering highways, water and infrastructure projects across Shropshire, Mid Wales and the West Midlands. With a strong pipeline of framework and negotiated work, we are looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of civil engineering projects.
This role would suit a Senior QS who:
- Enjoys running projects commercially from start to finish
- Prefers smaller, varied civil engineering projects rather than large corporate schemes
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take full commercial responsibility at project level, running the full lifecycle of projects from contract award to final account across a mix of highways and water projects. You will collaborate closely with our Contracts Managers, Estimating team and Directors, playing a key role in developing and maintaining structured commercial processes as the business grows. Projects typically range from £10k to £750k in value, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to take real ownership of commercial performance.
- Full commercial management of assigned projects from contract award to final accounts
- Preparing and submitting interim applications and agreeing valuations with clients
- Managing NEC contract processes including early warnings, compensation events and change management
- Producing CVRs, forecasts and commercial reports
- Procuring and managing subcontractor packages including negotiation and final accounts
- Pricing variations and additional works from first principles
- Monitoring project costs and supporting delivery teams to maintain margins
- Working collaboratively with Contracts Managers and site teams to manage risk and opportunities
Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS on civil engineering projects is required. Highways and/or water industry experience is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate should have:
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
- Strong attention to detail and commercial acumen
- Willingness to work in the Oswestry office at least part of each week (hybrid considered)
- Degree/HND in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management OR qualified by experience
- Full UK driving licence
We offer a competitive senior salary package, car allowance, and the opportunity to shape and improve commercial systems within a growing business. There are clear professional development opportunities and long-term stability with a strong pipeline of work.
We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Evans Construction & Civil Engineering Limited is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
