This is a temporary contract to initially cover maternity leave with a view to a possible full time position. Evans & Co. is a local law firm, with offices in Spennymoor and Ferryhill with plans to expand. We offer a wide range of legal services to an increasingly growing client base. Applications are sought for a highly motivated, proactive, and experienced member of the legal administration to work predominantly from our Ferryhill office.

You will take a flexible approach to working across legal services and support the improvement of the administrative processes for service through the use of electronic systems. This position does not require a law degree; administration experience is essential.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Previous experience in dealing with clients/customers face to face and by telephone
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines in a potentially stressful environment
  • Competence of Office IT Systems, ideally Word & Outlook
  • Prior experience in Office Diary Management
  • Excellent Organisational & Communication Skills
  • Excellent audio & copy typing skills
  • An ability to keep large amounts of personal information confidential
  • Strong training ethic
  • Sense of humour
  • Prior experience in formatting and working on large complex documents
  • Prior experience in dealing with confidential documents
  • Preparing files for billing
  • Prior experience in working in a law office
  • Prior experience in general legal file management, to include making calls to clients on behalf of the fee earners

Hours: 9.00 – 17.00 for five days per week.

Holidays: In excess of Living Wage - dependent on experience.
