The Role
- Representing clients detained at police stations.
- Managing your own caseload of criminal defence matters across a broad range of offences.
- Providing high-quality advice and representation to publicly funded clients.
- Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates' Court.
- Working closely with colleagues to deliver an excellent standard of client care.
- Managing deadlines and caseloads effectively while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
About You
- At least 1 year's PQE in criminal defence.
- Criminal Duty Solicitor accreditation is preferred but not essential; candidates without accreditation will be supported in obtaining it.
- Strong advocacy and communication skills.
- Experience representing clients at police stations and in the Magistrates' Court.
- Excellent organisational and case-management skills.
- Confidence working independently while contributing positively to a team.
- Good IT skills and experience using case-management systems.
- The ability to manage a demanding caseload and work effectively under pressure.
