This is an onsite fixed-term opportunity supporting our client Deutsche Bank, with Evalueserve, in their Fixed Income and Macro Research division. This Research PhD program will provide young PhD scholars with exposure to a wealth of new ideas and a taste of real-world dynamism and expertise, including interactions with both internal and external clients. The research teams manage a range of functions, from economic and financial forecasting to asset allocation, and cover all major global financial markets and economies.

Deutsche Bank Research is responsible for economic and financial analysis within Deutsche Bank Group and covers asset allocation and all major industry sectors. Analysing relevant trends for the bank in financial markets, the economy and society, the function highlights risks and opportunities, acting as a consultant for the bank, its clients and stakeholders. Deutsche Bank Research delivers high-quality, independent analysis and actively promotes public debate on economic, fiscal, labour market and social policy issues.

The Research PhD Program offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment and gain meaningful insight into the complexities and expertise of real-world market issues. Meet and work with some of the keenest minds in global Macroeconomics and Finance. Interact daily with teams from across the Bank as well as with clients. Analyze and explain market events, devise models and investment strategies, and assist in the publication of a wide array of Financial Research.

You will be a highly motivated PhD student eager to experience the world of finance in Europe at a premier European Investment Bank. You should be in the final year of your PhD program and on track for completion by June 2027. Preferred subjects include Economics, Finance, Econometrics, Financial Mathematics, and Statistics.

You will bring a passion for macroeconomics and finance and an excellent command of the English language. You should be technically adept and, ideally, have the following skills:

  • In-depth training and experience in empirical research;
  • The ability to manage large datasets;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Solid programming skills (in Python, EViews, or other statistical programming languages);
  • AI programming expertise would be an added advantage.
