About the role

As HR Advisor, you will provide practical,responsive and high-quality advice to managers and employees across EMCCA. Youwill manage your own employee relations caseload, helping managers applypolicies fairly and consistently and take ownership of their day-to-day peopleresponsibilities.

You will work closely with the Senior HRAdvisor and the wider HR and Organisational Development team. You will knowwhen to act independently and when to elevate a sensitive, complex orhigher-risk matter. Alongside casework, you will support organisational andworkforce activity and contribute to improvements in our policies, guidance andways of working.

This role offers breadth, visibility andthe opportunity to develop your professional experience within an organisationthat is continuing to grow and mature.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage an allocated employeerelations caseload, ensuring matters progress in a timely, consistent andproportionate way.
  • Advise managers on disciplinaryand grievance matters, sickness absence, performance and capability, probation,flexible working and other people issues.
  • Coach managers to build theirconfidence and take appropriate ownership of people managementresponsibilities.
  • Identify sensitive, complex orhigh-risk issues and elevate them appropriately.
  • Support workforce andorganisational activity, including consultation, restructures, service changes,redeployment and changes to roles or working arrangements.
  • Contribute to the review andimprovement of HR policies, processes, guidance and manager resources.
  • Support wider prioritiesincluding recruitment and retention, employee engagement, equality, diversityand inclusion and workforce reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality,accurate records and high professional standards.

What you'll bring

  • Practical experience ofproviding HR advice and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Experience of managing orsupporting employee relations casework and applying HR policies in practice.
  • Clear communication, goodjudgement and the confidence to handle sensitive information with tact anddiscretion.
  • Good organisation andcase-management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Experience of supportingorganisational change or workforce activity. Experience in local government, acombined authority, with trade unions or with TUPE would be useful but is notessential.
  • CIPD Level 5, working towardsit, or relevant practical HR experience demonstrating the knowledge andcapability required for the role.
