The Opportunity
Our client is a well-established independent garage based in North West London, providing MOTs, servicing, diagnostics and repair work across a wide range of vehicle brands. As the business continues to evolve with the changing automotive market, they are now seeing an approximately 50/50 split between ICE and EV vehicles entering the workshop and are looking to further strengthen their EV capability with the addition of an experienced IMI Level 4 EV Technician. The workshop already has existing EV capability in place, including an IMI Level 2 qualified technician and a business owner who is qualified to IMI Level 3, and they are now looking for a technically strong Level 4 individual to support more advanced EV diagnostics and high-voltage work.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out advanced EV diagnostics, fault finding and repair work
- Safely work on high-voltage systems in line with industry standards
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic vehicle faults
- Support the workshop with growing EV and hybrid workloads
- Assist with technical guidance and best practice around EV procedures
- Work across multiple vehicle brands and technologies
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair work where required
Requirements
- IMI Level 4 qualification in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Systems Repair and Replacement
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability
- Experience working on EVs and hybrid vehicles within a workshop environment
- High-voltage safety awareness and competence
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
- Basic ICE vehicle servicing and repair experience
- Multi-brand EV experience
- OEM EV training
- Experience supporting or mentoring other technicians
- Diagnostic equipment experience across various vehicle manufacturers
