Overview
Transport Operator position at EV Cargo, based at Preston Brook depot in Runcorn. 45 hours per week with a 9-hour shift and a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Candidate must be flexible to work outside normal core hours when required.
Responsibilities
- Work with a large team of drivers, including agency drivers.
- Support fleet, compliance, and all kit/equipment movements.
- Meet daily KPI and service requirements in an ever-changing environment.
- Proactively manage operational planning and changing customer requirements.
- Ensure the transport function is legally compliant by following processes.
- Contribute to improving the efficiency of the transport operation.
- Ensure core/agency staff are optimised in line with business requirements (resource levels appropriate for volumes).
- Maintain good quality communication with customers on a day-to-day basis, including liaising internally with HQ.
- Handle discrepancy resolution and management of customer service issues to meet or exceed contractual service levels.
- Demonstrate strong transport experience and results-driven approach.
- Develop and train within the team to provide a productive, compliant, and cost-efficient service.
Location
EV Cargo, Unit 2 Premier Point, Aston Lane South, Preston Brook, Runcorn, WA7 3GG.
Shift Information
Monday to Friday – 9-hour shift including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break (typically 09:00 – 18:00). Flexibility to cover holidays and other needs as required.

Requirements
- Have a Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain background
- Be able to work within a fast-paced sector
- Experience with transport TMS systems, ideally Mandata
- Excellent geographical knowledge
- Provide effective management of all transport movements from customer collection to delivery
- Ensure all collections and deliveries are made on time and in the most cost-effective manner
- Ability to review and update the core transport plan
- Up to date knowledge of drivers hours and working time regulations
- Transport Manager CPC desirable but not essential
