We are looking for an experienced and driven Hub Manager (Nights) to lead and develop our busy hub operation in Burton upon Trent. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on operational leader with strong people management skills and a passion for continuous improvement within a high-volume and fast-paced environment.

As Hub Manager, you will be responsible for organising, leading, and controlling all day-to-day hub operations, ensuring freight is processed safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards, health & safety legislation, compliance requirements, and budget expectations. You will play a key role in driving operational performance, managing teams and resources, maintaining strong depot and customer relationships, and ensuring a secure, compliant, and customer-focused operation across the pallet network. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring excellent decision-making, operational oversight, and the ability to perform effectively within a demanding logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all day-to-day pallet network hub operations
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and company policies
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all operational teams and visitors
  • Manage operational performance against KPIs, service targets, and budgetary requirements
  • Oversee freight throughput, trailer compliance, scanning accuracy, and operational efficiency
  • Monitor equipment checks, defect reporting, and operational compliance processes
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and operational issues in line with company procedures
  • Manage staffing levels, holiday planning, agency usage, and labour costs
  • Conduct appraisals, probation reviews, and performance management activities
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and employee development initiatives
  • Build strong relationships with depots, drivers, customers, and operational stakeholders
  • Maintain site security and operational standards across the hub
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, service, and cost control

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a confident operational leader with experience managing teams within a fast-moving transport, warehouse, or pallet network environment. You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in logistics, warehousing, or pallet network operations
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities
  • Experience managing KPIs, operational targets, and budgets
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and operational compliance
  • Experience handling disciplinary, grievance, and performance management processes
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Good IT and reporting skills
  • A proactive and continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience managing large operational teams
  • Strong background in cost control and operational efficiency improvement
  • Experience within high-volume distribution or hub operations
