WS Transportation was established in April 2014 by William Stobart and his son Edward Stobart. Nigel McMullan and Edward Stobart oversee the company’s operations. Initially focused on logistics for the construction industry and high & heavy haulage, WS Transportation has since expanded its offerings to include a comprehensive range of end-to-end solutions. It has recently completed its acquisition of EvCargo Distribution and Solutions, growing its General Haulage division.

Role Overview

Looking for multiple class 1 drivers to join our team in Leyland, Preston on nights/days on various shifts including a Monday to Friday and a 4‑on‑4‑off shift pattern/rota. Our drivers are one of the most important roles within WS, and as a fully qualified HGV driver, you will have the important role of delivering products to our customers while being safe and taking care of yourself on the road. Minimum pay £14.76 per hour. Maximum rate £20.00 per hour. Daily meal allowance £5.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Various HGV/Class 1 driving duties
  • General haulage duties
  • Store deliveries and cage work (if applicable, will be discussed upon pre‑interview)
  • Accountable for understanding and adhering to the route provided
  • Accountable for ensuring the correct load & paperwork is on board
  • Responsible for ensuring the tractor & trailer unit are road legal
  • Responsible for filling in the check sheets and reporting any defects to the Transport Office
  • Responsible for informing the Depot of any delays on the same day
  • Responsible for adhering to all Tachograph and working time laws

Knowledge And Experience Required

  • HGV/Class 1 licence essential. No more than 6 penalty points and no serious driving endorsements.
  • Qualified LGV Driver CE with CPC and digital tachograph card.
  • Understanding of tachograph laws and road regulations.
  • Good geographic knowledge of UK roads.
  • Experience driving articulated vehicles for a minimum of one year (review of less experience on a case‑by‑case basis). Alternatively, newly qualified drivers are invited to apply; the company can support development.
