This is an incredible role for a strong, technically grounded ACA-qualified accountant who is looking to really take ownership on how a finance function actually runs working alongside an outstanding leader. You won’t be inheriting perfection here. You’ll be helping to build it.
The opportunity: Finance is in transformation. Processes, controls and reporting discipline are being strengthened under new leadership, and this role sits right at the centre of that change. You’ll lead the financial accounting team and take full ownership of how the business closes, reports and assures its numbers. This is a role for someone who wants to be known for raising the bar on quality, control and execution.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading the monthly close process and financial accounting team end-to-end
- Strengthening financial controls, governance and reporting discipline across the function
- Developing and embedding group accounting policies so they are consistently applied and understood
- Owning the year-end audit process, setting structure, timelines and expectations with both auditors and internal teams
- Leading production of the annual financial statements, including disclosures and supporting narrative
- Overseeing indirect income accounting, ensuring accuracy, consistency and control
- Building a finance environment where reporting is reliable, controlled and audit-ready as standard practice
Why this role matters: This is not a “steady state” accounting role. It’s about tightening processes that need structure, improving consistency where there is variation and building confidence in the numbers the business relies on. You’ll have genuine influence over how financial accounting is run going forward, not just maintaining what already exists.
What we’re looking for:
- ACA qualified (ideally trained in practice, Big 4 or similar strong training environment)
- Must have managed teams before
- Must have decent level of post-qualified experience
- Solid grounding in financial accounting, reporting and audit
- Experience with month-end close and external audit processes
- Comfortable operating in detail while building better structure around it
- Strong communicator who can work across finance and non-finance teams
- High standards, calm under pressure, and not afraid to challenge when needed
What good looks like: Success here is simple and measurable: Faster, cleaner and more controlled month-end close, stronger audit outcomes with less friction and clearer preparation, clear, consistent accounting policies that are actually followed, a financial accounting function that feels structured, disciplined and dependable.
If you want a role where you can build capability, improve quality, and genuinely accelerate your career, this is exactly the kind of step that changes trajectories.
