Looking for something where your analysis actually changes how a business performs? This is that rare step up from reporting into real commercial influence.

You’ll sit right alongside the Retail MD and Operations Director, helping them answer a simple but critical question every day: How do we make our stores more profitable, consistently and at scale?

This isn’t about producing decks. It’s about shaping decisions that directly move profit across hundreds of stores.

The impact you’ll have:

  • Store profitability transformation – identify exactly where profit is being won or lost at store level and influence immediate corrective action
  • Labour optimisation – challenge store labour models, productivity assumptions and staffing structures to unlock sustainable margin improvement
  • Balanced scorecards that drive behaviour – design and embed performance measures that actually change how stores operate day to day (not vanity metrics)
  • Store refit ROI ownership – assess and track the financial return of major refit and investment programmes, ensuring capital is deployed where it truly pays back
  • Stock integrity & book stock discipline – improve accuracy, reduce leakage, and strengthen working capital control across the estate
  • Budgeting & forecasting leadership – build robust, driver-based forecasts that reflect operational reality, not just finance assumptions
  • Operational decision support – partner with field teams to turn performance data into actions that improve sales, margin and cash

Why this role matters:

This business is actively transforming how it uses finance. Historically underpowered, it is now building a serious commercial finance function that sits at the heart of decision-making.

That means:

  • Less legacy process
  • More influence and ownership
  • Faster decision cycles
  • Real visibility with senior leadership

You won’t be interpreting decisions after they’ve been made—you’ll be shaping them before they happen.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • CIMA, ACA OR ACCA Qualified
  • 2–6 years PQE ideally
  • Strong retail or FMCG background with exposure to commercial or operational partnering
  • Confidence to challenge senior stakeholders and frontline operators with equal credibility
  • Strong commercial instinct—able to see beyond the numbers into what drives performance
  • A mindset that leans towards ownership, pace and continuous improvement

If you really want to make a difference and drive performance, apply today.
