An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly recognisable international group with a portfolio of household-name brands operating across multiple markets. This is a high-profile Group Financial Control role sitting at the centre of a large, complex business, partnering with senior leadership on critical technical accounting, financial control, and transformation initiatives at Group level.

The business is looking for a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional with deep IFRS expertise gained within a large corporate environment, ideally ACA Big 4 firm, Plc, listed business, or globally recognised brand.

The Role

Working within Group Finance, you will play a key role in supporting major technical accounting projects, managing complex financial control matters, and partnering closely with senior leadership across the organisation. You will work closely with CFOs, Finance Directors, auditors, and executive stakeholders, helping to translate complex technical accounting issues into clear, commercially focused recommendations for senior audiences. A major attraction of this role is the opportunity to lead and support two significant business-critical projects over the next 24 months. The first is the implementation of IFRS 18 across a large international group. You will play a central role in assessing the impact of the new standard, preparing technical accounting papers, and supporting the wider business through the transition and implementation process. The second is the transition to a new external audit partner, a highly visible and strategically important programme for the business. You will work closely with the Group Controller, CFO, and wider leadership team to help manage the transition process, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure a smooth and effective handover between audit firms. This role offers significant exposure, variety, and the opportunity to operate in a fast-paced, highly visible environment with direct interaction at board and executive level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex technical accounting matters across the group
  • Support implementation of new accounting standards, including IFRS-related projects
  • Prepare high-quality technical accounting papers and briefing documents
  • Partner with auditors and senior finance stakeholders on complex accounting issues
  • Support audit transitions and external reporting activities
  • Lead balance sheet reviews, impairment assessments, and technical analysis
  • Provide clear, concise recommendations to senior leadership teams
  • Drive best practice across Group Financial Control processes
  • Work collaboratively across reporting, treasury, systems, and wider finance teams
  • Support strategic finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Candidate Profile

We are keen to speak with candidates who demonstrate:

  • Strong technical IFRS accounting expertise
  • Background within a Big 4 firm at Manager or Senior Manager level and/or relevant industry experience
  • Experience operating within a large corporate, Plc, or multinational environment
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex accounting issues clearly and commercially
  • Confidence engaging with CFOs, Finance Directors, auditors, and senior stakeholders
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management capability
  • Ability to simplify complex technical matters into concise executive summaries
  • Resilience and credibility within fast-paced, high-profile environments

Package & Benefits

  • Base salary £90,000 – £105,000
  • Bonus opportunity up to 30%
  • £7,800 car allowance
  • Outstanding pension contribution
  • Private medical cover
  • Hybrid working model
  • Flexible working culture
  • Access to extensive employee discounts and benefits platform
