We are supporting a private equity-backed platform business on a rare opportunity for a Group Financial Controller to join the founding executive team. With the first acquisition completed and significant capital backing in place, the business is now entering a rapid buy-and-build phase, targeting £500 to £750 million in revenue and £50 million EBIT within the next five to seven years.
This is the first group-level finance hire – a chance to work directly with the CFO and build a best-in-class finance function from the ground up.
About the Role
This is not a maintenance role – it is a build role. You will be responsible for laying the foundation for a scalable finance function in a highly acquisitive, multi-entity business. Key areas of ownership include:
- Establishing accounting infrastructure and scalable financial systems
- Creating consolidated reporting and governance structures across the group
- Leading post-acquisition financial integration and supporting rapid growth
- Supporting M&A activity
- Implementing ERP systems, streamlining workflows, and enabling real-time insights
- Acting as a strategic partner to the CFO and wider executive team
You will also play a crucial role in building a high-performing team and fostering a values-led, collaborative culture as the business scales.
Who We Are Looking For
This opportunity is suited to a qualified senior finance leader with a proven track record of building and leading finance functions in dynamic, high-growth environments.
Key requirements:
- ACA, CA, ICAEW, ACCA, ideally trained in a top-tier accounting firm
- At least eight years of progressive experience, with three to five years in a leadership role
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, FRS 102, IFRS, and internal controls
- Experience in private equity-backed, acquisitive, or multi-entity businesses
- Demonstrated experience implementing finance systems and delivering finance transformation
- A strategic thinker with the willingness to remain hands-on during the early stages
Experience in facilities management, property services, contract-based industries would be an advantage or experience in a Private Equity company.
