The Opportunity
We are working on a confidential appointment for a Technology Director to lead the technology strategy, transformation and operational delivery of an established organisation.
This is an opportunity for an experienced technology leader to make a genuine impact, shaping the future direction of the function and positioning technology as a strategic enabler of business performance and growth.
The organisation has an established technology function, but there is significant opportunity to improve processes, strengthen capabilities and introduce a more structured, commercially focused approach.
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical credibility with exceptional people leadership, commercial awareness and the ability to influence at the highest level.
This is not a role for someone who simply oversees an IT function. We need a leader who can challenge thinking, identify opportunities and translate technology investment into measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Technology Strategy: Develop and deliver a clear, commercially aligned technology roadmap that supports business priorities and long-term growth.
- Leadership & Development: Lead, motivate and develop an established technology team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Business Partnering: Build influential relationships with senior stakeholders, challenging existing thinking and ensuring technology is actively shaping business decisions.
- Transformation & Change: Identify and deliver opportunities to modernise systems, simplify processes, improve efficiency and strengthen operational performance.
- AI, Data & Automation: Shape a pragmatic approach to AI, data and automation, identifying opportunities to deliver tangible commercial and operational benefits.
- Technology Operations: Oversee infrastructure, service delivery, business systems and operational resilience, ensuring a reliable and scalable technology environment.
- Cyber Security & Governance: Maintain robust technology risk management, information security and governance frameworks.
- Commercial Management: Manage technology investment, budgets and supplier relationships, ensuring strong commercial value and measurable returns.
About You
We are particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate strength across four critical areas:
1. Strong Technical Credibility
You will have a solid foundation in technology, with sufficient hands-on experience and technical depth to challenge decisions, guide technical specialists and provide credible leadership across a broad technology landscape.
You will be an engaging, confident and structured leader who can articulate a clear vision, develop individuals and build high-performing teams.
We are looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of developing talent, managing performance and creating accountability.
3. Commercial Influence & Business Partnering
You will understand how to engage with senior commercial stakeholders, challenge requirements and influence business decisions.
Rather than simply responding to what the business requests, you will be comfortable shaping those requirements, identifying opportunities and demonstrating how technology can deliver genuine commercial value.
4. AI, Data & Digital Transformation
You will bring a practical understanding of emerging technologies, particularly AI, data and automation.
Importantly, we are looking for tangible examples of where you have developed strategies, implemented improvements or delivered measurable outcomes.
