What You'll Do
The Fleet Operations Mission Director (MD) reports to the Director, Satellite Missions and is the on-shift leader responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Eutelsat Oneweb LEO fleet of satellites. To ensure the continued health of our satellites and overall smooth operations of the Satellite Operations Centre (SOC), the MD is the orchestrator, coordinator, and final authority on all operations elements.
The MD manages the SOC operations team, acts as the main interface to the LEO Network Operations Centre (NOC), ensures adequate operator performance, supports personnel coverage, makes notifications per procedures, and leads all contingency or emergency actions necessary.
- Lead and manage all planned operations activities within the LEO SOC real-time operations, including Command and Control, Flight Dynamics, Mission Planning, Mission Management, DevSecOps, Infrastructure, and Earth Station Control elements.
- Coordinate actions and activities with NOC staff.
- Coordinate actions and activities with the Fleet Operations Management team.
- Lead and manage nominal operations of all elements and interfaces.
- Lead contingency and emergency activities including notifications, chair anomaly response meetings and ensure complete plans to recover are drafted and executed.
- Prepare shift logs and ensure proper shift handovers are completed between all positions prior to accepting control of the fleet.
What It Takes
The ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Leading teams of real-time operations personnel and engineers
- Real-time flight operations console expertise
- Operations software use, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of all aspects of job and take initiative.
- Excellent oral and written skills and communication/briefing skills is essential.
- 5+ years of aerospace industry or equivalent experience required.
- Direct experience in command and control system configuration and operation, Launch and Early Orbit Operations, sustaining Satellite Operations, and Flight Dynamics is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines in high stress environments.
- Multi-satellite LEO constellation operations experience is preferred.
