The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Surface Dressing Supervisor to manage operations across the UK road network. Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of surface dressing projects, ensuring safety compliance, resource management, quality control, and effective team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce strict health and safety protocols, conduct briefings and audits, and ensure the correct use of PPE. Maintain a safe working environment for all staff and affected parties.
- Operational Oversight: Manage the entire surface dressing process, including site surveys, risk assessments, and scheduling. Ensure all activities are performed efficiently and in compliance with regulations.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of operatives, assigning tasks and fostering a positive working environment. Ensure alignment with the company’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor the surface dressing application to ensure the correct use of materials, maintaining road surface integrity and longevity.
- Resource Management: Coordinate machinery, equipment, and material usage, managing maintenance schedules and ensuring availability of resources.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, Local Authorities, and the public to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure minimal disruption to ongoing projects.
- Compliance with Standards: Ensure all work adheres to industry and regulatory standards for surface dressing.
- Commercial Awareness: Monitor costs, report actual expenditures, and optimize resources to maximise efficiency and reduce waste. Accurately record site measurements and valuations.
Requirements:
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience in supervising surfacing crews
- SMSTS card certification
- Knowledge of surface dressing and specialist treatments (preferred)
- Competency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project)
- Flexibility to work and travel across the UK, including staying overnight
