About the Role
As a Microsurfacing / Highway Operative, you’ll work in small, supportive teams to deliver maintenance programs across the UK highway network. This is an outdoor, physical role that’s both challenging and fulfilling. You’ll help keep roads safe and efficient for millions of people. While an HGV licence is essential for transporting specialist equipment between sites, this is not a driving‑only role—you’ll be actively involved in the work on‑site.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- HGV Licence & Driver CPC
- CSCS Card
- Willingness to work away from home and alternate weekends
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety
- Ability to handle manual tasks (lifting, loading, unloading)
- Team player with a professional attitude
- Clear communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Resilience under pressure
Desirable
- Experience in Microsurfacing or highway works
- Customer service skills
- Familiarity with Local Authority projects
- Experience operating hi‑abs or road sweepers
Working Arrangements
- Monday to Friday, plus alternate weekends
- Nationwide travel with accommodation and transport provided
- Subsistence allowance when working away
