An exciting opportunity awaits you as Safety and Risks Expert UK, in our Rolling Stock team. The Safety and Risks Expert UK will lead the monitoring and management of safety events, regulatory compliance, and risk assessments across Eurostar’s UK Rolling Stock operations. You’ll ensure adherence to safety processes, maintain the risk register, support investigations, and contribute to continuous improvement through governance, reporting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

This permanent role is based at our Temple Mills depot in Leyton, with hybrid working. There is an expectation to attend the depot a minimum of three days per week. The close date for this role is 5pm on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. We’re looking for someone to:

  • Monitor and manage safety events, ensuring correct classification, risk evaluation, and timely analysis in line with ESM and SAMI processes.
  • Oversee compliance with UK safety regulations, conducting initial impact assessments and coordinating expert reviews.
  • Manage change processes by producing risk assessments and ensuring proper application of safety protocols.
  • Maintain and update the Rolling Stock Risk Register, including oversight of key risks and mitigation actions.
  • Prepare reports and contribute to safety governance meetings, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Draft, review, and update key Safety Management System (SMS) documents.
  • Conduct Level 2 controls and inspections as per the annual safety plan.
  • Monitor external safety alerts and manage the SAIT database to ensure timely response and awareness.

You’ll need…

  • Advanced expertise in risk management and safety leadership within a UK rail environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and UK Rolling Stock regulations.
  • Strong understanding of ECM (Entity in Charge of Maintenance) legislation and its practical application.
  • Proven experience in rolling stock maintenance, including technical skills, maintenance regimes, and organisational structures.
  • Ability to lead safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement across operational teams.
  • Confidence working with cross-functional stakeholders and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and performance.
  • Fluency in English and at a minimum, basic French is required for this role.
