Senior Rail Infrastructure Engineering & Assurance Manager in our Rolling Stock department.
The Senior Rail Infrastructure & Technical Assurance Manager (known internally as Senior Infrastructure & Technical Assurance Lead) is the senior technical authority within Infrastructure Services, responsible for providing expert engineering leadership, technical governance, and infrastructure assurance across depot systems and assets.
The role ensures infrastructure performance, safety, and compliance align with operational, regulatory, and long-term strategic objectives.
The postholder provides high-level technical expertise supporting asset lifecycle planning, reliability improvement, complex fault resolution, and infrastructure investment decisions.
The role provides senior engineering leadership across depot infrastructure activities and acts as a key technical authority supporting operational, engineering and strategic business objectives.
This permanent position is based at our Temple Mills depot in Leyton, London.

Requirements
We’re looking for someone to
- Act as the senior technical authority for depot infrastructure systems, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, company, and engineering standards.
- Provide strategic leadership for infrastructure reliability, risk management, asset lifecycle planning, and long-term infrastructure strategy.
- Lead the resolution of complex infrastructure issues, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action programmes.
- Govern technical assurance activities, including engineering reviews, standards compliance, technical documentation, and system integrity.
- Drive infrastructure modernisation, CAPEX investment, depot expansion, and future development projects through technical leadership and risk assessment.
- Ensure effective infrastructure maintenance management, including CMMS governance, defect management, and optimisation of preventative maintenance activities.
- Promote continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration to enhance safety, reliability, operational resilience, and business growth.
You'll need...
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in an engineering or technical discipline, with at least 5 years’ experience in railway infrastructure, depot operations, or a related engineering environment.
- Extensive technical expertise in depot infrastructure systems, asset management, maintenance strategies, reliability improvement, and engineering assurance.
- Strong working knowledge of OLE systems, isolation procedures, Network Rail High Speed (NRHS) standards, EMMIS control systems, and other critical infrastructure assets is highly desirable.
- Proven experience leading complex fault investigations, technical risk assessments, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Experience supporting infrastructure investment, CAPEX planning, asset renewals, depot modernisation, expansion projects, and system integration activities.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across Engineering, Operations, Projects, HSQE, contractors, and external partners.
- Safety-focused engineering professional with experience in risk assessment, safety leadership, accident investigation, and driving continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and operational performance.
