The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.
The role involves the understanding of the file set up and tool‑making requirements around the following print processes: Sheetfed Litho Printing; Web Offset and Flexo Printing; Flatbed and Rotary Screen Printing. It also involves the set up of layouts and stepping for Sheetfed and PSL web and PSL Digital presses and embellishments. The candidate will work closely with production planning, technical development and the production departments, requiring excellent communication, technical skills and experience. The successful candidate will be trained on the in‑house systems but must demonstrate competencies in the areas listed below.
Skill Requirements- A working knowledge of the basic foundation of flexo and litho printing
- The ability to read, understand and alter our in‑house RIPs
- Understanding of basic file set up including print methods, DPI, screen ruling and angles
- Flexo plate production
- Silk screen production
- Litho plate production
- Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
- Imposition of label, box wrap images, and various packaging using Esko software
- Ability to work unsupervised and resolve problems/implement improvements
- Ability to understand production requirements around other duties and guide staff on shift
- Experience working with the Esko system would be advantageous
- Experience with Rhino and BigFoot units would be advantageous
- Use customer images to prepare sheet layouts for sheet‑fed litho production of labels, wraps, and cartons, optimising layouts for maximum utilisation of materials and tooling.
- Understand the requirements around foiling and embossing being sent from sheet‑fed print.
- Use the existing CTP system to generate litho plates in line with production requirements.
- Prepare and maintain flexo plates, silk screens, cutters, foilers, and embossers for web‑fed production of labels; ensure plates produced in‑house or at suppliers are to specification and meet production/quality requirements.
- Maintain files and data on the CTP system, including backups.
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure materials, information, and tooling are in place on time and within budget.
- Liaise with external suppliers to ensure ordered tooling is correct and arrives on site with planning requirements.
Please note, this role involves working a treble shift pattern.
