RESPONSIBILITIES

The key role of the Liberal Arts & Humanities Academic Leader is to deliver up to 15 hours of high-quality tuition per week as part of the Morning Academic programme. Reporting to the Course Director and Director of Studies, the role involves planning and delivering engaging, structured lessons that explore key ideas in Liberal Arts and the Humanities.

  • Plan and deliver engaging, varied, and well-structured lessons in Liberal Arts and the Humanities, in line with the course syllabus.
  • Introduce students to key themes in areas such as history, culture, philosophy, and society, encouraging discussion and critical thinking, and exploration of “big ideas” that have shaped human thought, culture, and society, linking these to contemporary issues.
  • Create a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident to express ideas, debate perspectives, and participate actively.
  • Develop students’ creativity, problem-solving, and presentation skills through interactive tasks, group work, and projects.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of student behaviour, ensuring a positive and focused learning environment in line with guidance from senior staff.
  • Attend meetings with the Course Director and Director of Studies to review student progress, provide feedback, and address any concerns.
  • Complete all required administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate registers, records of learning, and student reports.
  • Support end-of-course activities, including attending Final Presentations where possible.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures at all times and contribute to a safe, positive, and enriching environment for students and colleagues.
  • Ensure all quality control processes are completed professionally, including accurate record keeping and proper use of equipment and facilities.

Academic Leaders are expected to maintain high personal standards and demonstrate a friendly, positive, and approachable manner. They must remain professional and calm, handle sensitive situations with care and discretion, and adhere to confidentiality and data protection guidance. Strong organisational skills and a passion for education are essential.
