The Health Care Assistant/Camp Leader will be a part of the welfare team on site and oversee the welfare of the players with regards to injury, illness and other welfare jobs when required. The Health Care Assistant/Camp Leader will work under the guidance of the Nurse and assist them with the appropriate storage, administration and record-keeping of players’ medication.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Nurse in providing first aid and medical assistance to players on the camp.
- Helping the Nurse keep up-to-date records of all illnesses, injuries and administering medication each week.
- Communicating and liaising with other welfare staff to pass on relevant information about players in their care on a need-to-know basis.
- Being one of the designated first aiders on site.
- Keeping a record of medical equipment and re-stocking when necessary.
- Providing support and guidance to all staff when dealing with illness and injury.
- Supporting welfare staff with communication regarding well-being, illnesses, injuries, and any treatment plans in place.
- Being the sole person responsible for medication administration when the nurse is off-site (this may include evenings and weekends).
- Contributing to a safe and positive environment which supports players’ learning whilst having fun.
- Guiding players through their week on camp, ensuring that they are in the right place at the right time and enjoying their experience.
- Supervising players during free time and organising evening activities.
All staff will contribute to the overall smooth running of the camp. Ultimately the safety of children is paramount, and the high standards expected of working with top brands needs to be maintained. We expect high personal standards, friendly, positive, and approachable staff who will always remain professional and calm. Staff will be able to handle sensitive situations well, adhering to confidentiality and data protection guidance, have excellent organisational skills, be good role models and be able to contribute to a positive working environment.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have medical experience – Nursing student or graduate.
- Have worked in medical settings i.e. on work placements or as a HCA.
- Have previous experience working in a professional capacity with children.
- Be proactive to any unforeseen medical situations which may arise on camp.
- Medical certificates are desirable.
