Main Purpose of Position:

As Warehouse Manager, reporting to Head of UK Warehousing, you will be responsible for overseeing raw materials procurement and warehouse operations, ensuring safe storage, accurate stock control, and timely delivery of materials to the manufacturing department. You will lead and develop a team of Warehouse Controllers and Operatives, manage key supplier relationships, and be accountable for the successful integration and ongoing operation of automated machinery, including a new packing system, to drive efficiency and maintain quality.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Procurement & Supplier Management
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies in line with business needs.
    • Manage supplier relationships, including negotiating terms and resolving issues or claims.
    • Prepare and approve purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
    • Track procurement performance, costs, and compliance with quality standards.
    • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and files.
  • Warehouse Operations & Inventory Control
    • Lead day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring materials are stored safely and in compliance with allergen and hygiene regulations.
    • Oversee the receipt, storage, issue, and return of raw materials.
    • Maintain accurate stock control using the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
    • Monitor order dispatch, delivery schedules, and storage capacity planning.
    • Ensure returned materials are appropriately handled and stored.
  • Automation & Machinery Management
    • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and performance of the new automated packing machinery.
    • Ensure the machinery integrates effectively into existing workflows to optimise productivity and minimise downtime.
    • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to resolve issues and plan for preventative maintenance.
    • Train and support staff on safe and efficient operation of automated systems.
    • Use data from automation systems to track output and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • People Leadership & Development
    • Manage the recruitment, onboarding, and training of warehouse staff.
    • Motivate, coach, and support team members to achieve productivity targets and maintain high performance.
    • Deliver daily briefings and lead a culture of open communication.
    • Address performance issues proactively, fairly, and constructively.
  • Systems & Administration
    • Administer and maintain the WMS and other operational systems.
    • Produce regular operational reports (daily, weekly, monthly) on KPIs and warehouse performance.
    • Ensure documentation is up to date and easily auditable.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.
    • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the warehouse team.
    • Oversee maintenance schedules for warehouse equipment, machinery, and vehicles.

  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
