We are seeking an experienced proactive and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our Finance team at ETEL.
Reporting to the Head of Tax, the Tax Accountant is responsible for providing seamless support to both the Finance Team and the wider business in ensuring company tax obligations are honoured in an accurate and timely manner.

The Tax Accountant also plays a vital role in preparing accurate calculations and data analysis to provide insightful reports to support sound and compliant business decisions.
This is a permanent position which following a successful induction and training period will operate on a hybrid basis to include three days per week based onsite at our central offices in Letchworth, plus travel to other ETEL Group locations as required by the business.
- The Day to Day
- Responsible for the leadership, support, guidance and professional development of our Tax Assistant.
- Prepare and draft quarterly tax calculations based on forecasts and budgets.
- Perform regular analysis of tax data, including tax sensitivity assessments.
- Prepare annual IFRS 101 and IFRS 102 corporate tax disclosures.
- Produce corporation tax computations and returns for approximately 12 entities.
- Support the Head of Tax with administrative aspects of the tax compliance process.
- Develop and maintain a solid working knowledge of VAT and Customs duties, including property VAT.
- Build awareness and understanding of the PAYE Settlement Agreement reporting process.
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of Alphatax.
- Maintain awareness of wider commercial and tax-related issues impacting the business.
- Build strong, trusted relationships across the Finance team and wider business.
- Liaise effectively with external advisors and HMRC.
- Commit to continuous professional development to remain up to date with tax legislation and best practice.
- Apply strong problem-solving skills when addressing tax and compliance challenges.
- Undertake ad hoc tax-related projects and tasks as required.
- Who we're looking for
- Experience working in a target-driven environment with exposure to corporation tax and VAT.
- Experience using finance or tax systems such as Alphatax, CODA, Coupa, or Concur (desirable).
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and a high level of numeracy.
- Advanced IT skills, particularly MS Excel.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and solutions-focused approach to work.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels.
- Full ATT, ACA, ACCA, CTA qualification (or equivalent) plus post qualified experience
