A Global semiconductor giant based in Cambridge are seeking to bolster their team with a talented CPU RTL Design Engineer. This opportunity is based on-site in Cambridge and requires rights to work in the UK already in place before starting.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with CPU architects to explore high-performance strategies and support early product life-cycle decisions
- Develop and specify micro-architectures, translating high-level concepts into detailed RTL designs
- Own RTL development, refinement, and assessment to meet power, performance, area, and timing targets
- Support functional and performance verification efforts to ensure RTL designs meet specifications
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement and validate designs for timing, area, reliability, testability, and power
Requirements
- Deep understanding of CPU microarchitecture, including instruction fetch/decode, branch prediction, scheduling, register renaming, out-of-order execution, integer/floating-point execution, load/store execution, prefetching, cache, and memory subsystems
- Proficiency in Verilog and/or VHDL, and experience with simulators and waveform debugging tools
- Strong grasp of logic design principles, including timing, power, and low-power microarchitecture techniques
- Knowledge of high-performance CPU techniques and trade-offs in microarchitecture design
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Perl for design automation and testing
