We are seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer to design and implement FPGA solutions for high-performance signal processing platforms. This role involves working with cutting-edge FPGA technology, contributing to system architecture decisions, and playing an important role in the evolution of the FPGA engineering team. This position offers strong career progression and the opportunity to take on technical leadership responsibilities as the team continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop FPGA solutions for advanced signal processing and sensing systems.
- Implement and maintain VHDL-based FPGA designs using AMD Xilinx development tools.
- Develop FPGA architectures targeting Xilinx RFSoC platforms and related technologies.
- Implement and optimise digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms in FPGA hardware.
- Develop firmware that interacts with on-chip ARM processors and embedded software environments.
- Integrate FPGA designs with external DDR memory and high-speed data interfaces.
- Support the development of multi-clock FPGA systems, ensuring reliable timing and synchronization.
- Contribute to systems that utilise GPS timing and synchronisation.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and system engineers to ensure robust end-to-end solutions.
- Participate in system architecture discussions, considering peripheral hardware and software integration.
- Support FPGA verification, debugging, and system bring-up activities.
- Contribute to mentoring and supporting junior engineers while helping shape the future FPGA team.
- At least 5 years of professional FPGA development experience.
- Strong experience developing FPGA designs using VHDL.
- Experience working with AMD Xilinx FPGA platforms and Vivado development tools.
- Experience with Xilinx RFSoC platforms or Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems.
- Solid understanding of digital signal processing (DSP) concepts and implementations.
- Experience integrating FPGA designs with on-chip ARM processors.
- Experience using external DDR memory within FPGA-based systems.
- Experience designing multi-clock FPGA systems.
- Understanding of system-level architecture, including interaction with hardware and software components.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to take ownership of technical challenges.
- Experience working with GPS-based timing or synchronisation systems.
- Experience developing FPGA systems used in signal processing or sensing applications.
- Interest in progressing toward technical leadership or team leadership roles.
