A leading fibre-optic sensing systems company based in Bristol are seeking to bolster their team with a talented FPGA Engineer. Please note this opportunity is on-site in Bristol.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of FPGA projects, proactively identifying problems and driving solutions.
- Develop and maintain VHDL code for AMD Xilinx platforms using Vivado, with a focus on DSP applications.
- Work with on‑chip ARM cores and external DDR memory to implement complex designs.
- Contribute to wider system design, understanding peripheral hardware, software integration, multi‑clock systems, and GPS synchronization.
- Support team growth and leadership, including succession planning and mentoring junior FPGA engineers.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of FPGA design experience, with strong VHDL development skills.
- Hands‑on experience with Xilinx RFSoC or Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms.
- Expertise in DSP, ARM‑based FPGA coding, and memory interfacing (external DDR).
- Understanding of system‑level architecture, multi‑clock domains, and GPS timing.
- Demonstrated leadership potential with the ability to eventually lead an FPGA engineering team.
