Senior Research Engineer – AI & Machine Learning

We’re looking for a Senior Research Engineer to lead engineering efforts across ambitious AI research projects, working at the intersection of applied AI, fundamental research and semiconductor innovation.

This is an opportunity to work on challenging problems across areas including Large Language Models (LLMs), deep learning optimisation, reinforcement learning and generative AI, helping turn cutting-edge research into scalable, robust engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts on complex AI and machine learning research projects.
• Design, implement and optimise ML algorithms and research systems.
• Improve the scalability, performance and robustness of research prototypes and infrastructure.
• Work closely with researchers to translate research objectives into high-quality engineering solutions.
• Help drive research into AI-powered semiconductor design and optimisation.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across the team.
• Contribute to technical publications, research documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Build and continuously improve research infrastructure, tooling and engineering workflows.
• Stay current with the latest developments in AI, ML and engineering best practices.

Experience

• Extensive experience implementing and optimising machine learning algorithms and systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C++ or similar.
• Experience leading technically complex engineering projects.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with researchers and engineers.
• Proven experience mentoring junior engineers or technical staff.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and technical documentation skills.
