A specialist construction cost engineering practice with expertise in civil engineering and infrastructure is seeking a PMO Manager – Project Controls in Manchester. The company offer a SaaS product to enterprise customers in the UK to collate and manage all cost/carbon estimation needs.
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic PMO Manager / Project Controls Manager/Director to join our growing team in the UK and lead a small team of 4/5 managers and analysts. This role offers the opportunity to work with major enterprise clients in the transport, water, and highway industries, contributing to critical infrastructure projects.
General:
- Contribute to and drive a collaborative and high-performing team culture, promoting effective communication and knowledge sharing.
- Adhere to business processes and policies, including time-sheeting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Controls: Oversee and manage project controls for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. This includes developing and maintaining project plans, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
- PMO Support: Provide support to the PMO, including developing and implementing project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients in the infrastructure sector (rail, water, highways), internal teams, and external suppliers. Effectively communicate project status and updates to all relevant parties.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans as needed.
- Performance Reporting: Develop and deliver regular performance reports, providing insights into project progress, cost performance, and schedule adherence. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes, tools, and templates to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Team Leadership (if applicable): Mentor and guide project teams, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring project success.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in project controls and/or PMO management, preferably within the infrastructure sector (transport, water, highways).
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Prince2, PMI).
- Experience working with enterprise-level clients.
- Experience leading teams
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and provide recommendations.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and internal teams.
- Experience with SaaS or software solutions is desirable.
