Citydoc are part of the European LifeCare Group, one of Europe's largest independent providers of travel clinics and public vaccination programmes. Founded in 1998, today European LifeCare Group has specialist clinics covering most of Denmark and the UK, where the company trades under a number of brands, including Danske Lægers Vaccinations Service, Vaccination UK, London Travel Clinic and Citydoc. European LifeCare Group also works for both the Danish and English National Health Service as a contracted service provider of immunisation programmes in schools and national influenza vaccination programmes.

Contract: Permanent

Pay: £18.00-£20.00 per hour

Hours: Shifts will take place between the hours of 09:00 am to 18:00 pm

Overtime: Available depending on needs to the business

Working Days: Monday to Friday with some Weekend clinics

Location: Hitchin Flagship Clinic

MAIN DUTIES

The postholder will be responsible for undertaking clinical duties relating to travel healthcare, immunisations, and sexual screening and work to high standards within the service, ensuring safety to patients is maintained whilst supporting the team in the efficient delivery of care.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Deliver an effective, evidence-based and competent level of care to patients.
  • Work collaboratively to support the team, organisation, and company stakeholders, to facilitate the smooth continuity of service delivery.
  • Accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation, auditing, and evaluation of nursing practices.
  • Facilitate training and participate in clinical supervision and the performance and development of staff.
  • Work within the regulatory compliance standards such as CQC, NaTHNaC, PHE or PHS as applicable.
  • Assist in assessing clinical competencies, in line with RCN competency recommendations.
  • Assist the Lead Nurse in the maintenance of clinical standards, staff rotas, annual leave and sickness and absence.
  • Assist in mentoring clinical staff commensurate with own competencies.
  • Ensure all clinical incidents, near misses and complaints are reported, monitored and processed in line with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in audits, making recommendations based on findings and share outcomes with the team for learning.
  • Actively and constructively contribute to team meetings.
  • Ensure patient documentation within the service area is accurate and contemporaneous and assist with staff inductions and remain compliant with the patient database system - Xmedicus.
  • Assist the Team Lead and Clinical Director as applicable.
  • Flexible working across clinical locations and corporate sites as applicable.
  • Support the management of HR personnel as applicable with post.
  • Attend, support and deputise meetings as requested from the Lead nurse.
  • Comply with Company policies & procedures.
  • Undertake duties commensurate with the level of this position.

Professional Qualifications:

  • MNC – RN on part 1 of the NMC register.
  • BSc equivalent.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Evidence of post-registration travel/immunisation education/qualification relevant to specialties.
  • RCN competency level 5 (desirable).
  • Yellow Fever trained (desirable).
  • Foundation course in travel medicine (desirable).

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Knowledge, awareness and preferably some experience in the specialty of travel.
  • Experience with sexual health basic screening (desirable).
  • Experience in teaching and supporting staff development.
  • Knowledge and awareness of websites and information resources for travel.
  • An understanding and experience of providing a cost-effective service.
  • Experience of working within PGD and PSD frameworks.
  • Auditing experience.
  • Level 5 RCN competency in Travel medicine (desirable).
  • Mentorship qualifications (desirable).
  • Mantoux/BCG experience (desirable).
  • Sexual Health Screening (desirable).

Mandatory Training:

This post is subject to all mandatory training provided by the company which must be completed prior to starting. This includes Safeguarding for Children, BLS, Anaphylaxis and Infection Control.
