ABOUT US

Since 2015, NHS England has contracted Vaccination UK, a dynamic and rapidly growing company, to provide school-aged immunisations, including influenza vaccinations, to students in many counties and boroughs across England, including the Black Country, Hertfordshire, Hereford and Worcester, and nine North East London boroughs.

We have a number of fixed-term positions to cover our School aged Flu immunisation programme.

Job Title: Team Leader

Permanent contract

Pay: £26,000 per annum

Hours: 9.00am to 5:00pm

Overtime: Available depending on needs to the business

Working Days: Monday to Friday

Location: York and other surrounding areas

MAIN DUTIES

The postholder will be responsible for leading and managing teams of administrators and clinicians and ensuring NHS school aged vaccination programmes are delivered on time and results are achieved in line with contract specifications.

JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Preparation of school calendar for school immunisation sessions and catch up clinics.
    • Provide a rota to cover all administrators and nurses, at least 8 weeks in advance in accordance with the relevant SOP.
    • Maintain and manage the rota to reflect any changes in staffing
    • Arrange emergency cover for administrative and clinical staff in the event of absence or sickness.
    • Manage consent form triaging in line with Immunisation Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
    • Responsible for team budgets and forecasting templates in accordance with KPI’s.
    • Continuous review of uptake figures is mandatory
    • Implement change rapidly in collaboration with SMT .
    • Responsible for maintaining the cold chain, ordering , and arranging transport of vaccinations to site.
    • Responsible for ensuring all team members are well trained and adhere to protocol.
    • Ensuring anaphylaxis kits are checked and arrange replacement if required one month before expiry.
    • Order and maintain supplies to ensure nurses can replenish cases for school sessions in line with VUK guidance.
    • Manage with the onboarding of new recruits as directed by the Programme Manager and the recruitment team, following processes and protocols at all times.
    • Support Programme Manager with their workload, and undertake delegated duties where necessary.
    • Collaborate with schools and Programme Manger where uptake is low, to implement relevant improvement plans, and strategies agreed upon.
    • Develop improvement plans on an annual basis or as and when required.
    • Responsible for leading and managing teams including performance absence, etc.
    • Facilitate health promotion activities alongside the clinical team
    • Attend and undertake quality audits in schools, gain feedback from all stakeholders after each session.
    • Liaise with the Training to ensure all health and safety requirements are met.
    • Ensure staff work towards company goals and objectives.
    • Familiar with Patient Group Directives (PGD’s) for immunisations and ensure staff have access to a copy in their cases and all clinical staff sign the master copy
    • Undertake other duties commensurate with the level of this position
    • Comply with Company polices & procedures

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Leadership/Management qualification - desirable
  • Experience as a Team Leader or similar role.
  • People management experience
  • In-depth knowledge of performance metrics.
  • Willingness to learn the principles of consent, (under 16 years of age)
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Assertive, team player and critical thinker
  • Excellent IT skills and advance MSExcel


Mandatory Training:

This post is subject to all mandatory training provided by the company which must be completed prior to starting. This includes Safeguarding for Children, BLS, Anaphylaxis and Infection Control.
