The Database Manager and Scientific Programmer will provide support to a dynamic team of researchers working on the reconstruction of past environments as part of the EcoArch project. They will be based in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Reading and will collaborate with project scientists involved in the EcoArch project in Reading, Oslo and Penn State, as well as collaborators in Africa.
The post involves providing programming and database support for the research team, including:
- Management of data and model resources
- Implementation of appropriate quality control procedures
- Assisting in obtaining data from external sources
- Design of databases
- Analyses of palaeodata and model simulations
- Participation in the scientific dissemination and publication activities of the research team
