We're looking for a motivated and skilled Structures Test Technologist to join the Airbus Structures Test organisation in Filton. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering world-class test capability within AIRTeC – a cutting-edge, £100m research and test facility developed to support future-focused aerospace innovation. As part of the Test Technologies team, you'll help shape tomorrow's aircraft by supporting critical structural test programmes, contributing to research & development, and working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
About The Team & Facility
Based within the Aerospace Integrated Research and Test Centre (AIRTeC), you'll work alongside experts in hydraulics, data acquisition, metrology, control and measurement, and advanced structural testing. AIRTeC is a unique European facility co-funded by Airbus and the UK Government, designed to accelerate innovation for sustainable aerospace and future aircraft technologies.
Your Work Will Contribute Directly To:
- Major Airbus aircraft programmes
- Global research and technology projects
- New methods including Digital Hybrid Testing and Zero-Emission aircraft initiatives
What You'll Be Doing
In this hands-on, technical role you will:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operate and develop servo-hydraulic control systems, including MOOG Control Systems (architecture, PID tuning, calibration).
- Use Aerotest software including Test Manager, Test Explorer and SmartBAR.
- Design, maintain, and operate test rigs and hydraulic loading systems.
- Set up control and data-acquisition systems for structural test campaigns.
- Perform structural testing from small-scale coupon level to large structural assemblies.
- Conduct equipment calibration and ensure compliance with established test processes.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement projects.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers.
- Communicate progress to Test Leaders and customers.
- Assist with subcontracting, purchasing, and goods receipt.
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities effectively.
- Share knowledge within the wider transnational test community.

Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience with MOOG Control Systems and Aerotest software.
- Hands-on experience designing/operating hydraulic or control systems.
- Experience with servo-hydraulic testing and/or structural testing.
- Ability to deliver projects to time, cost and quality.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience using universal test machines or HBK Catman.
- Background in aeronautical structures, materials, systems, or related fields.
- Supplier management experience.
- Interest in digital technologies, hybrid testing or simulation.
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Materials, Physics, or similar.
